CSUN Embarks on Big West Outdoor Championships on Friday

NORTHRIDGE, Calif.---CSUN heads to Cal Poly for the final week of the 2024 Big West Track & Field Championships at Miller & Capriotti Athletics Complex. The event will be held from May 10-11 with live coverage on ESPN+.

LAST TIME OUT
CSUN opened up the 2024 Big West Championship last weekend with multi-events. Audrie Reuss was the Matadors lone representative at the event as she finished 11th in the heptathlon with 4319 points. Reuss would post personal records in four different events in the heptathlon while her best finish was in the javelin throw with a PR toss of 32.08m (105-3). She also had a PR in the 100m-hurdles (15.44) to place 12th, in the 800m (2:33.50) to finish 12th and in the 200m (27.59) to place 14th. In the shot put, Reuss would crack the top-10 with an eighth-place finish after a toss of 10.54m (34-7).Â
CSUN IN THE RANKINGS
CSUN's men's team was ranked 13th in the region behind three Big West teams along with 52nd nationally by the USTFCCCA this week. The Matadors' women's team received a No. 32 ranking in the region.
BEST MARKS THIS SEASON
Trey Knight enters the weekend with the second-best hammer throw in the nation this season with a mark of 76.99 (252-7) set at the Mt. SAC Relays on April 17. Other top-30 marks this outdoor season include David Phillips in the 200m (22nd place) with a time of 20.44 at the Beach Invitational on April 12 along with Dillon Peters in the triple jump (28th place) with a leap of 15.69m (51-5.75) at the Trojan Invite on March 22. In the 4x100 relay, the team of Tosh Black, Phillips, James Crawford and Chase Mars have the 24th best time this season at 39.29 set at the Vince O'Boyle Classic on March 29.
A LOOK AT 2023 BIG WEST CHAMPIONSHIPS
CSUN looks to build off three title wins at last year's Big West Championship. Bryson Williams won the 2023 triple jump title with a leap of 15.15m (49-8.5) while Logan Davis took home the 400m title with a time of 46.55. The Matador women's 4x100 relay team of Charne Lee-Olkers, Kaliyah Poston, Jada Reese and Arianna Alexander also won their event with a time of 45.33. CSUN's men's team took fifth in the team standings while the women were ninth.
