CSUN Claims Five Individual Wins at Lumberjack Team Challenge

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz.---CSUN Track & Field opened up the 2025 indoor season on Friday at the Lumberjack Team Challenge with the Matadors picking up total individual wins.
The CSUN men's team collected three individual victories, two of which in sprint events as freshman Daniel Harper won the 60m and senior Wyatt Wiggins, Jr. took first place in the 200m while junior Jay Louison-Roe won the triple jump in his CSUN debut. On the women's team, senior Kaliyah Poston was victorious in the 200m and junior newcomer Camryn Harris won the triple jump.
MEN'S PERFORMANCES
It would be a stellar debut for Harper as he claimed first place in the 60m and also cracked the school's all-time top-10 list in the process. Harper would earn first place in the prelims with a time of 6.79 before beating that mark with a time of 6.75 in the finals to win the event. His final 60m time is the sixth fastest in school history. Three other Matadors qualified for the finals with Wyatt Wiggins, Jr. taking second place with a time of 6.76, which is the seventh-fastest time in program history, while Ehinome Inegbenoise was third in the finals with a PR time of 6.82 and Tosh Black finished seventh with a time of 6.90.
Wiggins finished with a 200m victory later in the day, posting a PR and the seventh-fastest time in school history at 21.36. Harper was just behind in second place at 21.62 followed by Jabari Vaughn in sixth with a PR time of 22.29.
A transfer from the University of Louisiana Monroe, Louison-Roe also had a sparkling CSUN debut, winning the triple jump with a mark of 14.82m (48-7.5).
In other sprint events, Gabe Martinez was just edged out for the top spot in the 400m as he came in second with a PR time of 47.29, which also ranks third best in school history. Freshman Walter Pierce was fourth with a time of 47.77, good enough for fifth-best in school history. Luke DaVanon also cracked the top 10 in the 400m, placing 10th at 48.88.
In field events, Joey Nations was third in the long jump with a leap of 7.26m (23-10) followed by Jonrich Dela Cruz in eighth at 6.69m (21-11.5).
Elijah Ignacio was the top Matador in the shot put, finishing third with a throw of 16.10m (52-10) while Guillermo Lopez was fourth at 15.80m (51-10), Francisco Isiordia was sixth with a PR of 15.25m (50-0.5) and Santiago Cerda came in 10th at 14.28m (46-10.25).
WOMEN'S PERFORMANCES
A UNLV transfer, Camryn Harris made waves her first CSUN event as she won the triple jump with a mark of 11.73m (38-6). Another CSUN newcomer, Anna Negulic finished fifth in the event with a mark of 10.63m (34-10.5).
Kaliyah Poston won her first individual event of her CSUN career on Friday, by registering a time of 24.47 in the 200m. Chandler Smith followed with a ninth-place finish with a time of 26.07.
Poston also had a good showing in the 60m where she qualified for the finals with the third-best time in school history at 7.46. She would finish at 7.47 in the finals to place third overall. In other sprint events, Brianna Kelpis was the fastest Matador in the 60m-hudles prelims at 9.20 to finish 14th.
Alba Moreno Paredes finished third in the high jump, recording a PR and the ninth-fastest mark of all-time at 1.67m (5-5.75). Behind Moreno Paredes was Ashleigh Porter who had a mark of 1.62m (5-3.75) to finish fourth in the event.
In the shot put, Jocelyn Hoggard set a new PR with a toss of 13.04m (42-9.5) to come in third place while Katherine Shipp-Davis was fifth at 12.70m (41-8) and Amani Britton was 10th at 11.99m (39-4). Britton also had a strong performance in the weight throw, finishing fifth with a PR of 15.03m (49-3.75) followed by Shipp-Davis in seventh place at 14.65m (48-0.75).
Zola Grey placed in the top 10 in the long jump for CSUN, finishing ninth overall with a leap of 5.48m (17-11.75).

"We had a great season opener. We had five individual wins and 22 personal bests. I am excited about the trajectory our team is on. We need to stay hungry and focused as we move forward through the season, but I like where we are at right now."

CSUN returns to competition at the Nevada Invite/Multis next week in Reno, Nev. The three-day event will be held from Jan. 23-25.
