FORÂ STARTERS
CSUN Beach Volleyball concludes the 2026 regular season this week as the Matadors (8-19) travel to Los Angeles for a single dual against No. 7 LMU on Friday before heading to Bakersfield for a Saturday tri-dual against the host Roadrunners and Pacific at Barnes Beach Volleyball Complex. Friday's dual is set for 1 p.m., while Saturday's tri-dual gets underway at 10 a.m.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
No. 7 LMU (22-10) host No. 3 USC and the Matadors on Friday at the LMU Beach Courts before closing out the regular season on Saturday with a doubleheader against Grand Canyon. LMU has dropped five straight duals after dropping four matches at the Cal Poly Center of Effort Challenge in San Luis Obispo last weekend. The seventh-ranked Lions fell to top-ranked Stanford (5-0) and N. 8 TCU (4-1) on Saturday, followed by losses to No. 4 USC (4-1) and No. 13 Arizona State (3-2) on Sunday.
Series: Friday's dual is the 17th meeting all-time between the Matadors and Lions, dating back to the first dual in 2014. CSUN is 1-15 all-time against LMU and has dropped 13 straight to the Lions after falling 4-1 at the Battle for LA tournament on Feb. 28. The Matadors' lone win in the series came in 2016 (3-2) at home.Â
Cal State Bakersfield (10-22) hosts the Matadors and Pacific on Saturday in its final home matches of the season. The Runners are coming off a 1-5 week that saw them defeat Pacific (4-1) around losses to UC Davis, Saint Mary's, and San Jose State at the Pacific Tournament in Stockton. CSUB then traveled to Los Angeles to meet top-ranked UCLA on Tuesday, falling 5-0.
Series: Saturday's dual is the 40th all-time between CSUN and Cal State Bakersfield, with the Matadors leading the all-time series, 24-15. CSUN has won seven straight over the 'Runners after winning 5-0 at the Big West Challenge in Long Beach on Mar. 21. The Matadors claimed all six dual wins over CSUB in 2025, including a 3-1 win at the Big West Championship in Santa Monica.
Pacific (3-23)Â will face the Matadors at 12:30Â p.m. and Cal State Bakersfield at 3Â p.m. on Saturday. The Tigers have dropped seven straight dual matches after finishing 0-4 in four home matches last weekend. Pacific dropped a 5-0 decision to San Jose State before falling to Saint Mary's (5-0), Cal State Bakersfield (4-1), and UC Davis (4-1).
Series: Saturday's dual match is just the fourth all-time between CSUN and Pacific and first since 2021. The Matadors are 2-1 in the series that dates back to 2015, winning 4-1 in 2018 and 5-0 in 2021. The Tigers claimed the inaugural meeting in 2015, 5-0 in Long Beach.
HEFLIN AND MILES NAMED BIG WEST PAIRS TEAM OF THE WEEK
CSUN's No. 1 beach pair of Hannah Heflin and Maleya Miles earned Big West Pairs Team of the Week Honors after a perfect 2-0 weekend on the sand. Heflin and Miles defeated the No. 1 pairs from both Concordia Irvine and No. 10 Long Beach State last weekend on the LBSU Sand Courts. The CSUN duo improved to 12-15 on the season after winning in three sets (21-18, 12-21, 19-17) over CUI's Kelia Giusta and Ashley Rossi followed by another three-set win over the Beach's Malia Gementera and Taylor Hagenah (21-18, 11-21, 18-16). Heflin and Miles have won six of their last nine dual matches, including wins over No. 10 Long Beach State, Oregon, UTEP, Concordia, and UC Davis. The award is the first for CSUN Beach Volleyball since Katie Sato and Aeryn Owens won the weekly award on Apr. 23, 2018.
CSUN CELEBRATES ITS 2026 SENIOR CLASS ON SATURDAY
The Matadors will honor its six seniors, Natalia Brandlin, Zaria Henderson, Maleya Miles, Tia Mendiola, Ainsley Patrick, and Jill Rodig on Saturday following its final match in Bakersfield. Mendiola, Miles, and Rodig have all been part of the CSUN beach program since 2024. Miles has 39 career individual wins, including 12 this season and 19 in 2025. Mendiola has 29 career wins, including 19 in 2025, while Rodig has 16 career wins. Patrick and Brandlin are both finishing up their second CSUN season this year. Patrick has 22 career wins, while Brandin has a career record of 2-4. Henderson completes her first and only season at CSUN in 2026, sporting a season record of 5-22.
CSUN QUICK SETS
Dylan Hall and Ava Rogers improved to a team-best 14-8 with a 1-1 weekend in Long Beach. Hall and Rogers, who are 8-2 over their last 10 dual matches, are 9-5 on the No. 3 court and 5-3 at No. 4 this season. Rogers leads CSUN with 15 individual wins in 2026, followed by Hall with 14 ... Hannah Heflin and Maleya Miles are now tied with Haley Coggins and Daysha Halbert for second on the team with 12 pairs wins ... The Matadors continue to seek their first win over a ranked team this season and will have another opportunity on Friday against No. 7 LMU. CSUN is 0-11 against ranked teams in 2026 after falling to No. 10 Long Beach State last weekend.
CSUN BEACH HISTORY
The Matadors are 142-167 (.460) all-time in their 12th season of beach volleyball, including a 73-38 (.658) record on their home sand. CSUN set a program record for single-season wins with 18 in 2025. The Matadors finished with 17 wins in 2023 (17-16), 2022 (17-17), and 2018 (17-8).
UP NEXT
Following Saturday's tri-dual at Cal State Bakersfield, CSUNÂ will return home to prepare for the 2026 Big West Beach Volleyball Championship. The 10th incarnation of the conference championship will be held at Cal Poly's Swanson Beach Volleyball Complex in San Luis Obispo for the second time in the tournament's history and first time since 2022. The championship will be contested from Apr. 23-24.
