Beach Volleyball Falls 5-0 to No. 9 Loyola Marymount

LOS ANGELES, Calif. — CSUN Beach Volleyball dropped a 5-0 decision to No. 9 Loyola Marymount on Friday at the LMU Beach Volleyball Courts.
The Matadors (8-20) were swept in all five scoring pairs despite several competitive sets, but the Lions (24-10) would claim their 14th consecutive win in the all-time series.
LMU opened the scoring on the No. 2 court, when Chloe Hooker and Ines Piret swept the Matadors' Tia Mendiola and Zaria Henderson, 21-16, 21-16. The Lions took a 2-0 lead in the dual when Josefine Schaekel and Liv Johnson defeated Jill Rodig and Ainsley Patrick, 21-18, 21-17 in the No. 4 pair.
CSUN's top pair of Hannah Heflin and Maleya Miles also came up short by the score of 21-16, 21-15 to LMU's Kiana Stevenson and Anna Pelloia as the Lions clinched the dual win.
The final two pairs also went to the Lions as Haley Coggins and Daysha Halbert kept things close in stretches on court five before falling to Katie McAlister and Ellie Davis, 21-18, 21-14. After dropping the opening set (21-13), Dylan Hall and Ava Rogers forced extra points in the second set before falling 27-25 to Magdalena Rabitsch and Anja Trailovic in the No. 3's.
In the No. 6 pair, Julia Gunner and Natalia Brandlin pushed LMU's Ingrid Timon-Johnson and Brooke Bowers but were edged 21-17, 21-18.
HEAD COACH JEFF HALL SAID
"Tough day for the Matadors. LMU was ready for us and was the better program today. We will regroup and get ready for two duals in Bakersfield tomorrow."

CSUN heads to the Barnes Beach Volleyball Complex on Saturday for a tri-dual against the host Roadrunners (10 a.m.) and Pacific (12:30 p.m.).
