Yusuke Akitoshi competed in every game and started 53 total contests as a senior...set new CSUN career highs in batting average (.290), runs scored (38), triples (4), slugging percentage (.415), sacrifice hits (12), stolen bases (23) and fielding percentage (.944)...recorded 11 doubles, two home runs, 22 RBI and 24 walks...led the team in runs, sacrifice hits and stolen bases...finished in the Top 10 in the Big West in stolen bases (1st), sacrifice hits (2nd) and runs (10th)...hit .273 with a home run, 12 RBI and 11 runs scored during conference play...posted 19 multiple-hit games during the season...went 3-for-5 with a home run, a double and a stolen base against Northern Colorado (2/27/16)...had a 2-for-4 day at the plate with two RBI, a run scored and a stolen base at George Washington (3/6/16)...reached base four times and scored on four occassions vs. #14 UCLA (3/8/16)...finished 6-for-14 with four stolen bases and four runs scored in the Houston Baptist series (3/18/16-3/20/16)...went 8-for-13 and drove in six RBI including a season-high four in the series finale in three games vs. Hawai'i (4/22/16-4/24/16)...his 23 stolen bases are tied for sixth all-time in a season in school history...produced 12 sacrifice hits, which are tied for third most in a single season in the CSUN record books...earned Big West Conference All-Academic Team honors.
2015
Akitoshi started in all 57 games at shortshop...Hit .286 to go along with 32 runs, 60 hits, 11 doubles, three triples, three home runs, 32 RBI, 25 walks, 11 stolen bases and a .367 on-base percentage...Led the team in at bats, hits, doubles, stolen bases, RBI and on-base percentage..His three home runs were go-ahead home runs...Owned an 11-game hitting streak...Recorded a team-high 17 multi-hit games...Scored a team-best 12 runs in conference play...Went 3-for-4 with an RBI and a double against #11 UCLA (2/17/15)...Drove in three RBI including two hits and triple at CSU Bakersfield (3/10/15)...Went 3-for-5 with two doubles, a home run, a stolen base and six RBI against BYU (4/13/15)...His home run against BYU was a game winner.
SKAGIT VALLEY COLLEGE (WA)
Akitoshi was the starting shortstop for the Skagit Valley College Cardinals for two seasons. During his time with the program, Akitoshi was named an All-NWACC First Team player twice and won two gold gloves. He earned his associate's degree with a 3.67 GPA.
TOKOHAKIKAGAWA HIGH SCHOOL
Akitoshi attended Tokohakikagawa High School in Kakegawa, Shizuoka, Japan, before enrolling at Skagit Valley College.
