2022 (R-SOPHOMORE)
OUTDOOR: Posted season best 6-4 in the high jump to finish fourth at the University of California Brutus Hamilton Invitational...finished fourth in the high jump at the University of Arizona Willie Williams Classic (6-2 3/4)...was 10th in the high jump at the Big West Championship (6-1 1/4)...charted season best in the triple jump (43-8 1/2) at the Williams Classic...charted season best in the long jump at the CSUN Invitational (21-0).
INDOOR: Did not compete.
PRIOR TO CSUN: Attended Arizona State from 2019-21.
Â
HIGH SCHOOL: A 2018 graduate of Oaks Christian High School…coach was Brandi Prieto…was named All-County in 2018 after winning first place at the Ventura County Championships and the Marmonte League Finals…named team 2018 Jumper of the Year.
Â
PERSONAL: Son of Gabriel and Erica Thompson…his cousin, the late Ezekial Bishop, ran track for CSUN in 2020…his cousin Davonte Nunnery played football at USC while his cousin Swanson Nunnery played football at Western Colorado University…a Psychology major...favorites include Angela Bassett, Viola Davis, Regina Hall, The Original Charmed TV show, The Vampire Diaries, Cajun Seafood, Mary Mary, Kierra Sheard, Tamela Mann, and YouTube…chose CSUN because his cousin (Ezekial Bishop) went to CSUN and was on the track and field team before he passed away…he hasn’t competed since high school in 2018 and we often spoke about a chance to compete together and be teammates again, so he came to CSUN to be closer to family and friends, as well as to be with my cousin again and make more memories with him like we did in high school…says greatest sports moment so far was getting to travel to North Carolina to compete at a national meet, he was excited to have the opportunity to be there…he placed 5th and was disappointed in myself but then realized it was a national meet and there were over 30 jumpers competing…the overall experience of flying there with his teammates and being in the hotel, going out to eat, competing at that high of a level, meeting new athletes, was a very enjoyable experience…says the best thing about being an athlete is the bonds you create with your teammates and the family you're able to become while getting the chance to compete with one another and share the same experiences…says his greatest hero is his mom because she raised seven children, did everything, she could to make sure we turned out to be great people and that we felt love...despite everything she’s been through in her life, she never gave up or failed to show my siblings and him, a great example of a kind God fearing Black woman, and her perseverance inspires my siblings and I all the time.
