Matadors Climb CSUN Career Charts At UW Invitational

SEATTLE—The CSUN men's and women's track and field teams completed competition at the University of Washington Invitational Saturday.
Men's Recap
Erick Loomis became the sixth CSUN competitor to surpass the 60-foot mark in the weight throw as he finished sixth with a toss of 60-0 1/4. Daniel Swarbrick was seventh in the weight throw as he recorded a 58-10 performance.
Clint Meyer put up the third best mark in the shot put in school history when he threw the shot put 59-3 1/2. Meyer would come in seventh overall.
Matthew Arnold was eighth in the triple jump (46-0 3/4) and 15th in the long jump (21-10 1/4). Mark Nicolas placed 10th in the pole vault as he cleared 15-2 1/4.
Ben Hibbert advanced to the second round of the 60m hurdles in a time of :8.45. In round two, Hibbert just missed moving farther on in the event as his :8.38 was the ninth fastest of session two. The top eight made the finals.
Women's Recap
Courtney Robinson turned in the fourth fastest 60m hurdle time in school history when she went :8.53 in the opening round of the event. Her time was the fastest of the session. Robinson went even faster, :8.52, in the second round to earn the fourth seed in the finals. Robinson again lowered her time, running :8.51 to place eighth overall.
De'Andreah Young finished sixth in the 400m by running :56.62. Elena Lopez earned a seventh place showing the shot put by posting a 47-5 1/4 performance.
Ty Wallace recorded a personal best 38-1 1/2 in the triple jump to earn 13th in the 38-woman field. Gardenia Centanaro cleared 11-10 3/4 in the pole vault, the eighth best mark in school history. She would finish 20th overall in a field of 48.
"I was pleased with today's performances," said CSUN interim head coach Lawrence Johnson. "Our team chemistry and team dynamic is coming together nicely. We continue to see an unprecedented number of personal bests from both the men's and women's teams."
The Matadors return to New Mexico next weekend when CSUN enters the University of New Mexico Classic Friday and Saturday.
