2018 (SENIOR)
OUTDOOR: Opened his outdoor campaign with back-to-back victories during the Mar. 10 CSUN All-Comers (15-9) and the Mar. 24 Northridge Invitational (15-5)…tied his season best, 15-9 during an 11th-place showing at the Apr. 14 UCSD Triton Invitational.
INDOOR: Entered five pole vault competitions…his 15-11 3/4 was a career indoor best and earned him fourth-place at the Feb. 10 Husky Classic…went 15-10 to place ninth during the Feb. 3 New Mexico Classic.
2017 (JUNIOR)
OUTDOOR: Cleared a career best 16-3 1/2 in the pole vault to finish second at the Big West Championships…was third in the pole vault during the Apr. 29 Bulldog Invitational when he cleared 15-3...placed fourth during the Apr. 1 UCLA Legends Invite (15-1).
INDOOR: Competed in two pole vault events…posted a season-best clearance of 15-7 at the New Mexico Cherry & Silver event.
2016 (SOPHOMORE)
OUTDOOR: Placed 12th with a season-best clearance of 15-1 at the Big West Championship...matched season best at Stanford.
INDOOR: Finished 26th in the pole vault (14-10 1/4) at the MPSF Championship...had a season-best clearance of 15-2 1/4.
2015 (FRESHMAN):
OUTDOOR: Placed 11th with a clearance of 14-07 1/4 at the Big West Championship...had a season-best clearance of 14-9 1/2 during the Texas Invitational.
INDOOR: Did not compete.
HIGH SCHOOL: A 2014 graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School...competed for coaches Steve Nelson and Ed Lasquette...lettered all four years in the pole vault for the Cardinals from 2010-14...was the Central Coast Section pole vault champion in 2014 and was named MVP as a sophomore and senior...cleared a personal-best of 16-1.
PERSONAL: Born in the Philippines...parents are Analyn and Joseph Nicolas...has two sisters, Alyana and Angel...Alyana was a member of the CSUN track & field team ... favorites include US Olympic pole vaulter Jennifer Suhr, the TV show "Adventure Time" and hot Cheetos...says the best thing about being an athlete is "staying fit" and the toughest is "working out."
