CSUN Women Win Pacific Coast Intercollegiate

LONG BEACH, Calif.—The CSUN women's track and field team took home top honors at the Pacific Coast Intercollegiate, hosted by Long Beach State Thursday. The Matador's men's program would come in seventh.
WOMEN'S RECAP
CSUN scored 43 points to take home the team honors. Washington State (30) was second.
Marina Kaye won the 1500m by posting a time of 5:07.69. Jamie Giammechele was second in the event as she ran 5:16.68. The duo recorded 18 points for the Matadors in the team race.
Samantha Michell charted a season best 1:00.43 in the 400m hurdles to come in second during the race. Brandy Williams was third in the shot put as she turned in a toss of 50-8 3/4.
Courtney Robinson (:13.55) and Sydney Mosley (:13.59) were 3-4 in the 100m hurdles, earning the Matadors 11 team points. Robinson, who is the school record holder in the event (:13.39) in the 100m hurdles, put up a time that is the fourth quickest in the history of the Matadors. Mosley's time is the fifth fastest in school history. Robinson turned around and tallied a third-place finish in the 100m, running a CSUN 2018 best time of :11.80.
Jasmine Pharms' 49-3 3/4 in the shot earned her seventh place. Ty Wallace finished seventh in the triple jump (39-1 1/4). Sonsoles Barba's 2:16.01 earned her an eighth-place finish in the 800m.
MEN'S RECAP
The Matadors scored 29 points to earn fifth. Washington State (76) won the team scoring race.
Clint Meyer was victorious in the shot put. His toss of 59-9 1/2 was two feet better than the second-place performer, Jefferson Jarvis of BYU (57-7 1/2).
Erick Loomis finished third in the hammer throw with a toss of 212-0. Joshua Turner placed third in the 110m hurdles when he ran a season best :14.42 during the race.
Daniel Swarbrick finished fourth in the discus with a season best 182-10. He also posted a season best in the hammer throw, 197-8, to finish seventh. Armon Hunter also recorded a season best in the discus. His 175-7 performance gave him sixth in the field of 44.
Parker Caston Jr. and and T'Jari Packard were fifth and sixth in the 200m to give the Matadors seven team points. Caston Jr. ran :21.85 while Packard went :21.86.
Packard ran the fastest CSUN time of the year in the 100m, :10.72, to pick up a point in eighth place. Chazz Warren scored in the 400m as he was eighth, recording a :50.32 performance.
The 4x100m relay of Caston Jr., Warren, Packard, and Ben Hibbert were fifth as the quartet ran a time of :41.84.
"We had great overall team performances today for our programs," said CSUN interim head coach Lawrence Johnson.
The Matadors' Long Beach stint continues with the Apr. 20-21 Long Beach State Invitational. Friday's competition will begin at 8:30 a.m. with the track events.
