A Pair Of Wins Highlight CSUN's Performance At Arizona

TUCSON, Ariz.—A pair of wins and top-five finishes highlighted the CSUN men's and women's track and field performances at the University of Arizona Desert Heat Classic Saturday.
WOMEN'S RECAP
De'Andreah Young won the 400m hurdles with a season best time of :57.81. Young's performance is the fastest in the Big West Conference and is the 15th quickest in Division I this season.
Gardenia Centanaro won the pole vault when she cleared a season best 13-0 3/4. Her leap is the second best in the Big West this season
Sydney Berry placed second in the triple jump (40-5). Brandy Williams (50-7 1/4) and Elena Lopez (48-0 1/2) finished 3-4 in the shot put.
Taranique Alexander placed fourth in the triple jump (39-3) and fifth in the long jump (19-0). Sydney Mosley finished fifth in the 100m hurdles (:13.58). Samantha Michell was seventh in the 100m hurdles (:14.00). Sonsoles Barbara's 2:14.49 in the 800m earned her an eighth-place finish. Ty Wallace (37-11 1/2) was eighth in the triple jump.
The 4x100m relay of Berry, Courtney Robinson, Kayla Pickens, and Young posted a sixth-place showing as the team ran :46.37.
MEN'S RECAP
Erick Loomis finished second in the hammer throw with a toss of 207-9.
Clint Meyer (58-2) and Dawaun Lucas (55-5 1/4) were 2-3 in the shot put while Kurt Felicitas (48-2 1/2) and Matthew Arnold (46-8) went 2-3 in the triple jump.
Daniel Swarbrick charted a third-place showing in the hammer (194-1) and was third in the discus (180-5). Swarbrick's discus toss is the third longest by a Big West Conference competitor this season.
Parker Caston Jr. finished third in the 400m by going :47.40. His performance is the fifth fastest time in the Big West this season.
Joshua Turner was third in the long jump (23-4 1/2), fourth in the 110m hurdles (:14.30), and fourth in the triple jump (46-7 1/4). Charlie Nettles finished third in the 3000m by running a time of 8:43.57.
Armon Hunter finished fourth in the discus with a toss of 177-1, the fifth longest by a Big West thrower in 2018. Alex Hibbert placed fourth in the 400m hurdles (:55.87). Christopher Brown finished fifth in the hammer throw (177-1).
Chazz Warren was fifth in the 400m (:49.41) while Tyree Harriott earned seventh (:49.98) in the race. Ben Hibbert placed sixth in the 110m hurdles (:14.67).
Chazz Warren, T'Jari Packard, Ben Hibbert, and Arnold posted a sixth-place showing in the 4x100m relay as the team ran :41.22.
CSUN entered two teams in the 4x400m relay. The "B" team of Arnold, Michael Merchan, Mario Ramirez, and Alex Hibbert finished third in a time of 3:17.01. The "A" squad of Caston Jr., Ben Hibbert, Packard, and Warren were sixth (3:23.15).
