NORTHRIDGE, Calif.—The CSUN Women's Basketball team returns to the Matadome Wednesday night when the Matadors host Loyola Marymount. The tip is set for 7 p.m. on ESPN+ with David Gascon on the call.

Loyola Marymount went 1-1 this past weekend at the Lions' Thanksgiving Classic and is now 2-3 on the year. LMU defeated UC San Diego 51-44 in the third-place game on Nov. 27. Ariel Johnson is leading Loyola Marymount in scoring (13.4), rebounding (6.4), assists (23), and steals (9). Nicole Rodriguez is the other player averaging in double figures as she is scoring 11.6 points per game.

Wednesday will mark the 19th time that CSUN and LMU are playing women's basketball. Loyola Marymount leads the all-time series 12-6. In the last game between the two clubs, the Matadors defeated the Lions 56-54 on Dec. 4, 2019.

The home stand continues Sunday as San Diego travels up I-5 to face CSUN. Action gets underway at 2 p.m. on ESPN+ with Gascon calling the action.

San Diego begins the week with a 4-2 record after losing to Nebraska 54-46 in the championship game of USD's The Dana on Mission Bay Holiday Tournament last Saturday.

San Diego travels across town to San Diego State Wednesday night before heading to Northridge. Steph Gorman is the team's leading scorer (9.6 ppg) while Myah Pace is the top rebounder (5.0 rpg). This will be the 22nd time that CSUN and USD are playing women's basketball with San Diego leading the all-time series 17-4.

For the third time in the first five games, CSUN (2-3) faced a nationally ranked opponent as No. 14/16 Texas defeated the Matadors 83-42. Jordyn Jackson and Rachel Harvey both scored 11 points to pace CSUN. True freshman Macy Smith scored a season-high nine points. Tess Amundsen scored seven points, grabbed a team-high five rebounds, posted a team-high three assists, and made two steals.

After leading the first 6:47 of the game, the Matadors forced 28 turnovers and made 11 steals against the Longhorns. Through five games, Harvey is leading the Matadors in field goal shooting. Harvey is 14-of-25 from the floor, a 56% clip. Harvey was 5-of-6 from the field in Texas.

Amundsen was named Big West Women's Basketball Player of the Week on Nov. 29. A redshirt junior, this is Amundsen's first Big West honor. A Fresno native, Amundsen had a happy homecoming on Nov. 23 against Fresno State. The 6-0 forward scored 31 points in leading CSUN past the Bulldogs 81-75. Amundsen went 10-of-17 from the field, 4-of-7 from three-point range, and 7-of-8 from the free-throw line. She grabbed a team-high seven rebounds and added an assist and a steal. Her 31 points were the most by a CSUN player since Deja Williams posted 32 at Hawai'i on Mar. 7, 2020.

Amundsen averaged 19.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 1.5 steals per game against Fresno State and Texas. Amundsen is the first Matador player to be named Player of the Week since Jan. 13, 2020, when De'Jionae Calloway earned the award.Â
