Matadors to Host CSUN Invitational Friday & Saturday

NORTHRIDGE, Calif.—The CSUN Men's and Women's Track and Field teams return to competition this weekend as the Matadors host the CSUN Invitational Apr. 1-2.
Friday's action gets underway at 2:30 p.m. and will feature the following events;
On Saturday, the track events begin at 10 a.m. and will have the following schedule;
The field events are set for 9 a.m. and will have the following schedule;
Teams scheduled to compete this weekend are Cal State L.A., CSUN, Cal State San Bernardino, Compton College, El Camino College, Pacific Lutheran, Pepperdine, and USC.
CSUN's Chris Pitts and Yanla Ndjip-Nyemeck were selected Big West Men's and Big West Women's Track Athletes of the Week on Mar. 22.
Pitts broke the school record in the men's 400m at the Willie Williams Classic on Mar. 19. Pitts recorded a time of :46.42, surpassing the old mark of :46.80 that Clinton Lane set in 1999. Pitts finished second in the event. His :46.42 is currently the ninth-fastest in the West Region. Pitts returned to anchor CSUN 4x400m relay later in the meet and helped the team run a time of 3:10.75 to finish second. The time is the sixth-fastest in school history and is currently the 26th-quickest in the West Region.
Ndjip-Nyemeck earned the award for the second week in a row. She ran :13.37 to finish second in the women's 100m hurdles at the Willie Williams Classic. Her time is the second quickest in school history (seventh fastest in the West Region) and broke Jackie Washington's 42-year-old school freshman record (:13.63) in the event. The performance stands as the 16th-quickest in the West Region this week.

- 12:30 p.m. Men's 100m 4 Heats
- 12:45 p.m. Women's 800m 2 Heats
- 1:00 p.m. Men's 800m 1 Heat
- 1:15 p.m. Women's 400m Hurdles 1 Heat
