CSUN Track & Field Travels to Hamilton Invitational Saturday

NORTHRIDGE, Calif.---The CSUN Men's and Women's Track and Field teams return to action Saturday when the Matadors travel to the University of California Brutus Hamilton Invitational.

The field events get underway at 9:30 a.m., with the running events beginning at 11 a.m. Scheduled to compete are Academy of Art, Boise State, California, Cal State L.A., CSUN, Dominican (Calif.), San Francisco, San Francisco State, Stanford, UC Davis, and UC Merced.

The Matadors hosted the CSUN Invitational on Apr. 1-2. The CSUN teams came away with 10 wins. Leading the charge was Yanla Ndjip-Nyemeck, who took top honors in the 100m hurdles and the 200m and was part of the Matadors' women's 4x100m relay, which won the event in a time of :46.50. Her 200m time was the seventh fastest by a freshman at CSUN.

Arianna Alexander won the 100m in a personal best time of :11.76 and was on the 4x100m relay with Ndjip-Nyemeck, Kaliyah Poston, and Raeshell Austin. Isaiah Rucker took the top honor in the high jump as he posted a 6-6 3/4 performance. He came back to finish second in the triple jump with a career-best 44-8.

In this week's NCAA Division I Men's Outdoor Track & Field Regional Rating Index, which was released on Wednesday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA), the CSUN men are ranked 22nd in the West. In contrast, the Matador women are 28th.
Looking at the national top 50; Chris Pitts is ranked 24th in Division I in the 200m (:46.42), Ndjip-Nyemeck is 30th in the 100m hurdles (:13.37).
