CSUN Wins Twice on Final Day of Big West Championship

DAVIS, Calif.—A pair of women's track victories highlighted the final day of competition for CSUN at the Big West Championship Saturday at Woody Wilson Track.

THE WOMEN
- Yanla Ndjip-Nyemeck became the fourth consecutive Matador entry to win the 100m hurdles dating back to the 2018 meet. The redshirt freshman won the race in a time of :13.36 which lowered her freshman school record and is the second fastest time in school history.
- Ndjip-Nyemeck came back later in the day to finish second in the 200m with a season-best time of :23.91. Her performance is the fourth-fastest by a freshman in school history.
- Arianna Alexander matched her season-best in the 100m to win the race in a time of :11.59. Alexander is the 11th CSUN sprinter to take home the title of fastest women in the Big West since the Matadors joined the league in 2002. Alexander returned to place fifth the 200m (:24.87) later in the championship.
- Kaliyah Poston scored in two events on Saturday. The freshman finished fifth in the 100m in a season-best time of :12.03. After qualifying with a season-best (:24.80) in the 200m prelims, she placed seventh (:25.14) in the finals.
- Sameerah Evans posted her second consecutive second-place finish in the triple jump. She tied her season-best with a leap of 40-9 3/4.
- Brianna Kelpis scored in the javelin for the second consecutive season. She finished eighth (128-5).
THE MEN
- Chris Pitts ran :47.19 in the 400m to finish second.
- The 4x100m relay of Wyatt Wiggins, Jr., Raphael Adedigba, Ramir Smith, and Christopher Allen were third (:41.20).
- The 4x400m relay of Eric Vivanco, Smith, De Marq Jaque, and Pitts also finished on the podium as the team came in third (3:13.29).
- Zavion Harper recorded a time of :15.05 to place eighth in the 110m hurdles.
