Alexander Sets 60m Mark to Highlight CSUN's Performances at UNM

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.---A new women's school record highlighted the CSUN men's and women's track and field teams' competition at the University of New Mexico Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Invitational Saturday at the Albuquerque Convention Center.
WOMEN
Arianna Alexander broke the school record in the 60m dash in the preliminaries by running :7.43. Le'Shel Vines set the previous mark in 2014. Qualifying was fast as Texas' Julien Alfred set the quickest time in the world this season, :7.05.
In the finals, Alexander placed seventh (:7.48) as Alfred lowered her world's fastest mark to :7.02 to win the event. She later finished 17th in the 200m with the 11th fastest time in school history, :24.55.
Nicole Contreras finished third in the 3000m in a time of 10:23.58. She returned later in the meet to place seventh in the mile (5:24.68).
In the 300m, Kaliyah Poston was fourth (:40.79), with Charne-Lee Olkers coming in sixth. (:42.02).
Leann Hamilton placed ninth in the mile (5:26.22).
MEN
Freshman Logan Davis was the runner-up in the unseeded 200m. His time of :21.63 was the eighth fastest in school history.
In the seeded 200m, David Phillips, Jr. ran the second fastest time in school history, 21.22, to finish 11th.
Joey Nations recorded a fifth-place showing in the high jump (6-4 3/4).
In the 3000m, Camilo Torres (8:47.65) and Daniel Rodriguez (8:48.93) finished fifth and sixth, respectively. Torres' time is the ninth quickest in school history, while Rodriguez's is the 10th fastest. Both returned later in the meet to run in the mile. Torres finished 13th (4:28.16), while Rodriguez was 18th (4:36.02).
The 300m saw Ramir Smith finish seventh (:35.93) while Alec Froning placed eighth (:36.90).
De Marq Jaque placed ninth in the 200m (:21.96).
The 4x400m of Davis, Xavier Bradford, Luke DaVanon, and Jaque ran 3:15.28 to place sixth. The time was the sixth fastest in school history.

"We had a great day today. We had several people break into our all-time top 10 including Arianna in the 60m. The team continues to make improvements in all areas. We need to make a few more adjustments as we get closer to conference."
