Sale Moves Into Top-25, CSUN 14th at Ka'anapali Classic Collegiate

LAHAINA, Hawai'i - Antoine Sale fired a 4-under 67 to move into the top-25 while the CSUN men's golf team carded a second round of 4-under 280 to advance one spot after 36 holes of the Ka'anapali Classic Collegiate Invitational Friday at Royal Ka'anapali Golf Course.
The Matadors posted an eight-shot improvement from round one to round two, moving up to 14th at even-par 568 for the tournament. CSUN will open the final round just 11 shots out of the top-10 in the 20-team field. Round one team leader Liberty maintained its lead at 34-under 534 while former Matador Mats Ege of Tennessee State and Liberty's Josh Ryan share the individual lead at 12-under 130.
Sale had four birdies along with 14 pars in round two to finish at 4-under 67 which moved him from 56th into a tie for 24th at 4-under 138. Sale heads into the final round just one shot out of the top 20 and four strokes out of the top 10.

"Today was a little better, we improved by eight shots but still gave away a lot of shots. If we can eliminate the double bogeys and finish better than we have the last couple of days, we'll be fine. Hopefully, we can get something going tomorrow and end the fall on a positive note."
The Matadors will be paired with Clemson, Connecticut, and Wyoming for the final round which gets underway Saturday morning at 8:30 a.m. local time.

CSUNÂ SCORES
- Eirik Thomassen and Brandon McDonough are both tied for 65th at 1-over 143. Thomassen had seven birdies on Friday but also had three bogeys and a pair of double bogeys in his round of even-par 71. McDonough had six birdies and five bogeys in a round of 1-under 70.
-  Felix Schrott had five birdies in his second consecutive round of even-par 72. Schrott is currently tied for 68th at 2-over 144.
- Thomas Burou had an eagle in a round of 6-over 77 but slipped eight spots into a tie for 106th at 10-over 152.
- CSUN also fielded a pair of individuals as Dillon Jonke posted a three-shot improvement from round one to card a 2-over 73. Jonke is tied for 94th at 7-over 149. Liam Judkins is tied for 115th at 13-over 155 following rounds of 78-77.
