CSUN Men Sweep Sprints At MPSF Championships; Alexander 4th

SPOKANE, Wash.—CSUN completed a sweep of the men's sprints as the MPSF Indoor Championships closed Saturday at The Podium.
MEN
Logan Davis lowered the school record in the 60m dash to :6.64 as he became the first CSUN athlete to win the event at the MPSFs since 2004 (Rashad Allen). Davis' previous mark was :6.73, which he co-held the record with Bradley Ike (2010). Davis' time would be the 27th best in Division I this season, placing him in contention to qualify for the NCAA Division I Indoor Championships.
Davis became the first CSUN entry since 2004 (Rashad Allen, 60/200) to win two individual events at the MPSFs. He won the first of four heats in the time final in a time of :47.23, the second fastest performance in school history.
David Phillips, Jr. lowered his personal best in the 60m to :6.75 to finish third. His time is the third fastest in school history.
Combined with Phillips, Jr. winning the 200 on day one of the championships, it is the first time since 1993 that CSUN won three MPSF events in one championship.
Bryson Williams posted a season-best 48-2 1/2 to finish second in the triple jump.
Noah Contreras finished third in the 800m by running the eighth fastest time in school history, 1:52.98.
Guillermo Lopez recorded a season-best toss of 53-11 3/4 to earn fourth place.
Tzu-Ting Chan came in fifth in the triple jump with a leap of 47-3.
Joey Nations was fifth in the high jump, recording 6-2.
Zavion Harper scored in the 60m hurdles as he placed sixth (:8.46).
Daniel Rodriguez ran the sixth fastest 3000m time in school history, 8:34.78, to place seventh.
De Marq Jaque recorded the 10th fastest 400m time in school history, :48.60, to finish third in his heat. Jaque was eighth overall.
Atticus Hall came in eighth (1:57.07) in the 800m, running a season-best time.
Elijah Ignacio charted a season-best throw of 49-2 1/2 to finish eighth in the shot put.
Camilo Torres' 8:44.94 became the 10th quickest 3000m mark in school history. He just missed scoring as he finished ninth.
The 4x400m relay of Jaque, Xavier Bradford, Ramir Smith, and Luke DaVanon finished fourth (3:16.74).
As a team, the Matadors finished fourth with 87 points. It is the best performance for CSUN at the MPSFs since 2003, when the Matadors were fifth. BYU (167) took home top team honors.
WOMEN
Arianna Alexander finished fourth in the 60m in a time of :7.49.
Charne-Lee Olkers placed fourth in the 60m hurdles, running :8.71.
Alba Moreno Paredes tied for eighth in the high jump with Elizabeth Churchill of UC Davis as both went 5-1 3/4.
As a team, the Matadors finished 10th (13.5). It is the best performance for CSUN at the MPSFs since 2017, when the Matadors were 11th. BYU (170.5) took home top team honors.
