CSUN Track & Field Opens Outdoor With 5 Wins & 10 Second-Place Finishes

SANTA BARBARA, Calif.—The CSUN men's and women's track and field teams combined for five victories and 10 second-place finishes as the outdoor season opened on Saturday at the UCSB Gauchos Invitational.
MEN
CSUN won both relays and recorded four second-place showings.
The 4x100m relay of Wyatt Wiggins, Jr., Logan Davis, Ramir Smith, and David Phillips, Jr. won the event in a time of :41.44.
The 4x400m "A" relay of Davis, Phillips, Jr., Smith and Luke DaVanon took the top honors after running 3:12.60. The Matadors "B" squad of Chris Pitts, De Marq Jaque, Wiggins, Jr., and Xavier Bradford were the runner-up in a time of 3:13.48.
Noah Contreras placed second (1:50.30) in the 800m. Contreras' time is the fifth fastest in school history.
Joseph Alipranti finished second in the hammer throw with a personal best toss of 183-9.
Joey Nations placed second in the long jump (22-9) and fourth in the 100m (:11.07).
Guillermo Lopez was second in the shot (52-9 1/2) and sixth in the discus (152-9).
CSUN Top 10 Finishes
The Matadors won two individual races and recorded four second-place finishes.
Arianna Alexander was victorious in the 200m. Alexander's winning time was :24.85.
Charne-Lee Olkers won the 100m hurdles in a time of :14.13.
Jada Reese turned in a runner-up showing in the 100m as she went :12.37. She was also second in the 200m (:25.38).
Alba Moreno Paredes finished second in the high jump (5-1 1/4). She later came in fourth in the triple jump (34-5 1/2).
Emily Hutchinson earned second in the shot (44-9 1/2).
Katherine Shipp-Davis was second in the discus (155-2) and ninth in the Hammer Throw (127-6).
