COACH JIM BRACKEN SAID
"We just got off to a terrible start and it steam rolled from there. We played the par-5's at 1-over and the teams that are leading were 15-under, so there's the big difference. It was a combination of what could go wrong went wrong today. I'm certainly disappointed that we're not in the thick of it but the guys didn't quit and kept a good attitude despite nothing going right for us."
The Matadors will be paired with UC Santa Barbara and UC Riverside for round two which gets underway Monday morning at 11:40 a.m. off the No. 1 tee. Thomassen will tee-off first followed by Burou (11:50 a.m.), McDonough (12:00 p.m.), Schrott (12:10 p.m.), and Sale (12:20 p.m.).
