
Trio of Matadors Named to 2025 All-Big West Men's Volleyball First Team

IRVINE, Calif. - For the first time since 2018, CSUN Men's Volleyball had three student-athletes named to the First Team as The Big West 2025 Men's Volleyball All-Conference Team has been announced on the eve of The Hawaiian Islands presents the 2025 Outrigger Big West Men's Volleyball Championship.
The Matadors had three first-team selections as senior Donovan Constable, redshirt sophomore Jalen Phillips, and freshman Stilian Delibosov were all named to the top team. The last time CSUN had three players named first team was 2018 when Eric Chance, Arvis Greene, Jr., and Dimitar Kalchev earned top honors.
This season also marked the third consecutive campaign that the Matadors have had three players named to the All-Big West Team. CSUN, which has now had 26 players named All-Big West in eight seasons in the conference, finished the 2025 regular season with an 18-10 record and tied for fourth in The Big West at 3-7. The Matadors are the No. 6 seed in this week's Outrigger Big West Men's Volleyball Championship.
Constable, who repeated as a first-team honoree, earned first team All-Big West honors for the second time after closing out a record-setting CSUN career in 2025. Also a Big West All-Freshman Team selection in 2022, Constable has been named Big West Setter of the Week four times in 2025 while also earning All-Tournament Team accolades at the season-opening UCSB ASICS Invitational in January. This season, he has posted a 1,046 assists which has moved him into the top-five in CSUN history with 3,609 career assists. Constable also served a team-high 49 aces this season while also posting 135 digs, 73 blocks, and 73 kills. A seven-time Big West Player of the Week recipient in his career, Constable posted a career-high 62 assists in CSUN's 3-2 win at No. 10 UC San Diego on Apr. 12.
Phillips, named Big West Offensive Player of the Week three times this season, led CSUN with 429 kills while averaging 4.17 kills per set which was among the top averages in the Big West and nationally as well. Phillips put down a career-high 34 kills in CSUN's 3-2 win at No. 10 UC San Diego on Apr. 12. He has reached double digits in kills 22 times in 28 matches this season while hitting .283 on a team-high 928 attacks. He has also career-highs in aces (27), digs (111), and blocks (54) this season. Phillips has been CSUN's kills leader in 22 of the teams' 28 matches this season."Jalen, in just his second year, has been a core part of our team's success this season," said Edwards. "His athleticism, clutch performances, and relentless work ethic made him a game-changer for us. I couldn't be more proud of him and know this is just the beginning!"

Delibosov, a freshman middle fram Razlog, Bulgaria, was among the national leaders in both hitting percentage and blocks throughout the 2025 season. He led CSUN with a .489 hitting clip in the regular season, putting down 188 kills on 323 swings with just 30 hitting errors. His season hitting percentage currently ranks third in CSUN history for a single-season. Delibosov, who was also the Big West leader in both categories for much of the season, also led CSUN in blocks with a team-high 106 total blocks (13 solo, 93 assisted) through 28 matches this season.Â
"As a freshman, Stilian's impact has been nothing short of exceptional," added Edwards. "His volleyball IQ, relentless drive, and natural leadership have made him stand out well beyond his years. He's the kind of player who elevates everyone around him—setting the standard with his energy, discipline, and team-first mentality every time he steps on the court."
In addition to earning first team accolades, Delibosov also represents the ninth CSUN player to earn Big West All-Freshman Team accolades after Maciej Ptaszynski (2018), Taylor Ittner (2019), Daniel Wetter (2019), Kyle Hobus (2020), Kyle Merchen (2021), Constable, Olumide Allen (2022), Malcolm King (2023), and Phillips (2024).
No. 6 seed CSUNÂ opens the 2025 Outrigger Big West Men's Volleyball Championship at SimpliFi Arena at the Stan Sheriff Center in Honolulu against No. 3 seed UC Irvine Thursday at 10:30 p.m. PT/7:30 p.m. HT.
