CSUN Narrowly Edged By Pacific in Non-Conference Dual, 4-3

STOCKTON, Calif. — The CSUN women's tennis team dropped a tightly contested 4-3 decision to Pacific on Saturday afternoon at the Eve Zimmerman Tennis Center. The Matadors battled throughout, splitting the six singles matches after Pacific claimed the doubles point.
HOW IT HAPPENED
In doubles play, the Tigers secured the early advantage by winning two of three courts. Pacific's Cindy Ung and Leyanne Hirota topped Madison Shepperson and Satsuki Ishikawa 6-3 at Court No. 3 before Milena Maiorova and Indiya McLeod clinched the point with a 7-5 victory over Angela Ho and Nicole West at Court No. 1.
The Matadors responded in singles action with three victories.
Ho set the tone at the top spot, earning a straight-sets win over Maiorova, 6-4, 6-2, at Court No.1. The win by Ho evened the scoring at one apiece.
The next match to finish was Court No.2. McLeod defeated West 6-2, 6-3 to give Pacific the 2-1 lead.
Ishikawa picked up the win in her second career singles match against Hirota, 6-2, 7-5 at Court No. 6 to tie the score at 2-2.
Emma Moratalla Sanz outlasted Rayna Sugai in a three-set battle at Court No. 3, prevailing 7-5, 4-6, 6-4, in a win that saw the Matadors take a 3-2 lead.
Pacific would win the last two singles matches. Ung rallied past Tallia Harper 7-5, 3-6, 6-3 at Court No. 4 while Nahreen Cheam clinched the match with a 6-3, 5-7, 6-3 victory over Sofia Dermenjyan at Court No. 5.
