2010 (R-SENIOR)
OUTDOOR: Advanced to the NCAA West Region Championship in both the shot put and hammer...finished 18th in the shot with a best of 55-8 1/2 and was 36th in the hammer with a best of 181-1 (55.19)...won Northridge’s first Big West hammer title since 2002 with a meet best of 191-2...also finished fourth in the shot put with a best of 55-2...posted a lifetime-best 192-5 to finish third in the hammer at the Sun Angel Classic (Apr. 10)...season-best in the shot put was 57-0 at the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays (Mar. 31) where he was sixth.
INDOOR: Finished ninth in the shot put with a season-best of 52-11 (16.13) at the MPSF Indoor Championship (Feb. 27).
2009 (REDSHIRT/JUNIOR)
OUTDOOR: Sat out the season as a redshirt in the CSUN program.
INDOOR: Finished in the shot put at the MPSF Indoor Championship...threw a season-best of 55-0 in the final.
2008 (JUNIOR/R-SOPHOMORE)
OUTDOOR: Was the Big West Champion in the shot put after throwing a career-best 58-4 3/4 in the final as Northridge finished 1-2 with teammate Derek Cooper finishing second...his throw is the eighth-best in Matador history ... also finished fourth in the Big West hammer with a mark of 173-10 and was sixth in the discus at 150-5...advanced to the NCAA West Regional in the shot put finishing 16th with a throw of 55-2 3/4
INDOOR: Threw an indoor season-best 52-9.25 (16.08) in the shot put at the Husky Classic.
2007 (SOPHOMORE/REDSHIRT)
OUTDOOR: Qualified for the hammer throw at the NCAA West Regionals...threw 177-3 and placed 26th ... finished sixth in the Big West shot put with a lifetime-best and Northridge season-best 54-3 3/4 also placed sixth in the hammer at the Big West Championship with a personal-best 184-8...finished 13th in the discus with a mark of 147-4...recorded a season-best of 154-2 at the UCSD Triton invitational

OUTDOOR: Qualified for the Big West Outdoor Championship in the shot put, finishing 13th with a season-best mark of 49-10 1/2...also recorded season-bests of 137-7 in the discus at the Cal State LA Twilight Open and 171-0 in the hammer at the Steve Scott Invitational in Irvine ... his hammer mark ranks fourth on the Matador Freshman records list;\
INDOOR: Did not compete.
HIGH SCHOOL: A 2005 graduate of El Modena High School...lettered in both track & field and football...competedin the discus and shot put for the track & field team and was a linebacker/tight ends for the football team...the Vanguards won the Century League
track & field title in 2003 and won the league football championship in 2002...was voted football team MVP as a freshman in 2001...graduated with a 3.0 grade point average.
PERSONAL: Son of Jan and Jim Butler...major is Sociology...has two older brothers, Matt and Dan...Matt attended Cal State Monterey Bay and Dan attends UC San Diego...favorites include the Green Bay Packers and quarterback Brett Favre, “That 70’s Show” and the movie “Braveheart”.
