OUTDOOR: Recorded a career best 13-9 3/4 in the pole vault in a 10th-place finish at the Cal State LA Twilight Open...placed 12th in the pole vault (13-7 1/4) at the adidas/Steve Scott Invitational...named Academic All-Conference.
INDOOR: Did not compete.
2011 (JUNIOR)
OUTDOOR: Posted a season best of 13-7 1/4 in the pole vault at the Asics/Steve Scott Invitational where he finished 20th...cleared 13-3 1/2 at the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational.
INDOOR: Did not compete.
PRIOR TO CSUN: Spent 2009-10 at Southwestern College in Chula Vista, Calif...was a pole vaulter and decathlete for the Jaguars and coach Tinie Campbell...best in the pole vault was 14-0 3/4...earned his degree in business administration in 2010 with a 3.4 grade point average.
HIGH SCHOOL: A 2007 graduate of Eastlake High School...earned the Coaches Award as a senior in 2007 and was named Most Improved and Best Distance Runner in 2004...was a distance runner and pole vaulted as a senior...top height was 12-6 and best times were 2:00 in the 800m and 4:35 in the 1,600m...graduated with a 3.0 grade point average.
PERSONAL: Son of Jennifer and Michael Oleata...major is business administration...has one younger brother, Mike who attends Cal Poly Pomona...favorites include the Harlem Globetrotters, US Olympic pole vaulter Tim Mack, actor Jack Black, the TV show "Spartacus" and the movie "300" ...says the toughest thing about being an athlete is "balancing school, sports and my budget"...the best advice he's ever received is "persistence and determination bring success.
