2010 (R-FRESHMAN)
OUTDOOR: Competed in the 800 and 1,500 meters...ran a season-best 2:00.74 in the 800 meters at the Tommie Lister Classic at Cal State LA...posted a season-best of 4:15.51 in the 1,500 meters at the Bryan Clay Invitational.
INDOOR: Did not compete.
CROSS COUNTRY: Finished 69th at the 2009 Big West Cross Country Championship in a time of 29:20.1...best finish of the season was 52nd in 17:04.13 at the Northridge Invitational.
2009 (REDSHIRT): Sat out the season as a redshirt in the CSUN program.
HIGH SCHOOL: A 2008 graduate of Sylmar HIgh School...competed in both track and field and cross country...earned All- City honors in both cross country and track as a senior...was named cross country/track team MVP in 2007 and 2008...graduate with a
3.0 grade point average.
PERSONAL: Son of Martina and Jose Luis Garcia...major is Kinesiology/Exercise Science....has three sisters, Elvira, Monica and Michelle and one brother, Arturo...favorites include the Los Angeles Dodgers, actor Jim Carrey, the TV show “Smallville” and the band the Red Jumpsuit Apparatus...says the best thing about being an athlete is “that you’re sometimes seen as a role model”.
