Avila competed in each race during the season ... made her CSUN debut at the Big West Preview where she ran a 20:24.4 on a 5k course (9/1/23) ... ran a season-best 6k time of 22:46.6 at the Santa Clara Invitational, finishing 135th overall (10/14/23) ... competed at the Big West Championships, finishing 68th with a time of 23:27.4 (10/27/23) ... participated the NCAA West Regional where she finished with a time of 23:32.7.
PRIOR TO CSUN
A cross country and track and field team member at Moorpark College ... qualified for the CCCAA State Cross Country Championships in both of her seasons at Moorpark, running a career-best 3.1-mile time (19:45.7) at the 2021 state meet … was 30th at the CCCAA Championships as a freshman and 43rd as a sophomore … won the 800m at the Beach Opener in her career-best time of 2:27.03 … finished fourth in the 800m at the 2022 Western State Conference Coast Track and Field Championships … qualified for the 2022 CCCAA State Track and Field Championships in the 1500m where she finished ninth in a time of 5:06.38 … was fourth in the 1500m at the 2022 CCCAA SoCal Track and Field Championships and third in the 1500m at the 2022 Western State Conference Coast Track and Field Championships … ran career-best of 4:55.90 in 1500 at the 2022 Bryan Clay Invitational.

A 2020 graduate of Fillmore High School … finished second in the Citrus Coast League Cross Country Finals, 15th at the CIF-SS Division 2 Cross Country Prelims, and 51st at the CIF-SS Division 2 Cross Country Finals as a senior … qualified for the CIF-SS Division 2 Cross Country Finals as a freshman, sophomore and as a junior … three-mile prep-best was 19:07.3 while 5000m prep-best was 19:53.5 …f inished third in the 1600m at the Citrus Coast League Track and Field Finals before coming in 14th at the CIF-SS Division 4 Finals as a junior … placed fourth in the 800m, fifth in the 1600m, and fifth in the 3200m at the Frontier League Track and Field Championship finals as a sophomore … prep-bests were 1:03.94 in the 400m, 2:24.86 in the 800m, 5:23.92 in the 1600m, and 9:31.23 in the 3200m.

Daughter of Raymond and Rita Avila … favorites include Friends, Lost Boys, Ramen, Gap Band, and Michael Jackson … chose CSUN because it specializes in the major for the career she wants to pursue and for the coaching staff, which will help me achieve my running goals … says her greatest sports moment so far is running her best 10k time of 43.31 in hot weather conditions … says the best thing about being an athlete is getting to build and see the achievements she can do when she is dedicated and trusting her training to bring her time down, surprising herself and the progress she can see in my results … says the toughest thing about being an athlete is being flexible and consistent and balancing things outside just the training … says the toughest athlete she has competed against is Claudia Lane…the person in history she would like to meet is Michael Jackson … the two people in history she would like to have dinner with are Beyoncé and Michael Jackson … the best advice she has been given is to be humble … says the most interesting thing about her is that she can solve a Rubik’s Cube in under two minutes … says her greatest hero is her father.
