Matadors Find Success at Mt. SAC Relays

WALNUT, Calif. - Michael Woodham and the Cal State Northridge women's relay teams highlighted the Matadors' performance at the Mt. SAC Relays.
Woodham shattered his previous best in his signature event, the 110 meter hurdles as he ran a blistering 14.19 to finish third in a solid field. Woodham, who's previous best was 14.40, now owns the top time in the Big West this season.
The women's 4x100 and 4x400 relay teams also posted season-bests as the 4x100 team of Precious Watkins, Sherrina Lofton, Sierra Brooks and Desirae Gonder ran a season-best 45.63 to finish third.
The 4x400 team of Lofton, Watkins, Gonder and Jackie Harrison competed in the Elite race and finished fourth in a season-best time of 3:37.51 which is just .09 off the Cal State Northridge school record.
Also at Mt. SAC, Harrison finished 10th in the 400 meters in a time of 54.69, Alisa Jenkins was 36th in the 100 meter hurdles in 14.57. Lofton finished in the top-10 in the 100 meters, taking seventh in a time of 11.92 while Watkins was 20th in 12.08 and Brooks was 30th in 12.21.
CSUN also competed at the Bryan Clay Invitational at Azusa Pacific on Friday as Steven Gonzales ran a lifetime-best 1:54.11 in the 800 meters to reach Big West qualifying standards. Gustavo Hernandez also ran a season-best of 1:54.62 and Hunter Hays posted a lifetime-best 1:57.23.
Among the Matador throwers, James Poet, who already has a Big West qualifier in the hammer, posted a season-best of 164-2 (50.04).
