To qualify for the Academic All-Conference Team, a student-athlete must carry a minimum 3.00 cumulative institutional grade point average (GPA), must have completed one full academic year at the member institution prior to the season for which the award is being received, and must have competed in at least 50 percent of the institution's contests in the student-athlete's respective sport.
Women's water polo had the most CSUN honorees with nine followed by baseball and beach volleyball with eight apiece. Both softball and women's tennis had seven honorees while the men's and women's track & field teams each placed six. The men's golf and women's golf teams had four honorees and the men's volleyball squad had two.
With the 61 honorees in the spring, the Matadors concluded the 2021-22 year with 100 total student-athletes earning Academic All-Conference accolades. Previously, CSUN had 34 fall student-athletes and five winter student-athletes honored for their academic success by the Big West this year.
Across the Big West, a total of 739 student-athletes earned spring academic accolades this year. Women's track & field student-athletes led the way with 168 awardees followed by men's track & field with 120. Baseball and softball earned 95 and 81 honorees, respectively. Every school in the Big West had at least one Academic All-Conference selection in each sport it sponsors in the spring.
