CSUN travels to Cal State Fullerton this weekend. The series begins Friday night at 6 p.m. with a single game followed by a Saturday doubleheader that gets underway at 2 p.m. ESPN+ will stream all three games.

ABOUT THE TITANS
Cal State Fullerton is tied with CSUN and UC Santa Barbara for second in the Big West with a 6-3 record as the week begins. The trio trails first-place Long Beach State by one game (7-2). The Titans have a 19-15 overall record.

Daisy Munoz is fourth in the conference in hits with 35. With a league high 103 at-bats, she leads the team in hitting at a .340 clip.

Hannah Becerra is hitting only .209, but she is second in the league in runs scored with 28. Her six home runs place her in a tie for second in the Big West with Hawai'i's Rachel Sabourn while her 18 RBI are the eighth highest in the conference.

Myka Sutherlin's nine wins are the second most in the Big West while her 132 strikeouts lead the league and are 21st in Division I this week.

Cal State Fullerton leads the all-time series against CSUN 81-38-1.

CSUN REACHES 1500
CSUN became the 13th NCAA Division I softball program to win 1,500 games on Apr. 1, 2023, when the Matadors defeated Long Beach State 7-1.

The Matadors rank 13th among all Division I teams in program victories and have an all-time record of 1501-974-12 as of Apr. 3.

CARRANCO NAMED FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
CSUN's Lauryn Carranco was named Big West Freshman Softball Player of the Week on Monday, Apr. 3.

Carranco tossed her first collegiate complete game, leading CSUN to a series-clinching 7-1 victory at home over first-place Long Beach State on Apr. 1. The Clovis High School graduate tossed a six-hitter, giving up the lone Beach run in the top of the seventh. She struck out three and walked three. She threw 115 pitches, 74 for strikes, as she improved to 2-4 on the year.

Carranco was perfect in the fourth and fifth and also faced the minimum in the third thanks to an inning-ending 6-3 double play. The series win was CSUN's first over LBSU since 2015 in Long Beach.

ABOUT LAST WEEK
The Matadors went 3-1 last week. CSUN won 2-of-3 from Long Beach State, winning its first series against the Beach since 2015. Adding a game against LMU, the Matadors defeated the Lions 4-0 on Monday.
