CSUN Track & Field Returns to Action This Week at Two Meets

NORTHRIDGE, Calif.---CSUN Track & Field returns to competition this week in two meets. The Matadors will send two student-athletes to the UC Riverside Spring Track Classic Multi's, which will be held from Thursday to Friday. CSUN then sends a full contingent to USC's Ron & Sharlene Allice Trojan Invitational, held from Friday to Saturday.

ABOUT THE MEETS
UCR's Sprint Track Classic Multi's will consist of a decathlon and heptathlon. CSUN is scheduled to send Audrie Reuss along with Brianna Kelpis, who will compete unattached. Both are making their first appearance this outdoor season at the event. Thursday's heptathlon begins at 11:30 am. while action resumes on Friday at 12 p.m.
USC's Ron & Sharlene Allice Trojan Invitational will begin with field events on Friday starting 11 a.m. at the Colich Throws Center in Wilmington, Calif.. On Saturday, competition resumes with field events kicking off at 11 a.m. and running events commencing at 11:45 a.m. as each event will be held at USC's Loker Track.
KNIGHT NAMED ALL-AMERICA FIRST TEAM
Junior thrower Trey Knight capped a banner indoor track & field season with a USTFCCA All-America First Team selection after finishing second in the weight throw at the 2024 NCAA Indoor Championships in Boston, Mass. on March 7. Knight set a new school record in the weight throw, beating his previous mark he set just 11 days prior at the MPSF Championships with a toss of 24.14m (79-2.50). During the indoor season, Knight was named MPSF Male Athlete of the Year while he won both the weight throw and the shot put titles at the conference championships.
LAST TIME OUT
CSUN opened the outdoor season at the Ben Brown Invitational from March 8-9. Joey Nations had the best finish during the meet, finishing second in the long jump with a leap of 7.24m (23-9). Joseph Alipranti was third in the hammer throw, tossing 59.63m (195-7) while Wyatt Wiggins, Jr. was third in the 200m (21.23), the quartet of Shamil Youngblood, Christopher Allen, Wiggins and Jabari Vaughn were third in the 4x100 relay (40.79), Zavion Harper was fourth in the 110-hurdles (14.34) and Ramiro Mateos was fourth in the steeplechase (9:42.68).
On the women's side, Emily Hutchinson finished third in the shot put with a PR of 14.13m (46-4.25) while Katherine Shipp-Davis was fourth in the discus (46.89m, 153-10). Alba Moreno Paredes was also sixth in the high jump with a leap of 1.61m (5-3.25).
