Matt Rice appeared in four matches and eight games as a redshirt freshman ... recorded 15 kills while averaging
1.88 kpg ... hit .333 for the season to go with two assists, three digs and four blocks ... knocked down a career-high seven kills in 11 swings (.455) with two blocks (one solo) in Northridge’s 3-0 win over NJIT (Mar. 17) ... had five kills while hitting .444 with a pair of digs against Hope International (Mar. 21) ... also saw action against No. 8 Long Beach State where he had three kills, one dig and a pair of blocks ... came off the bench in the MPSF semi- final against Pepperidge and took one swing while also serving once.
2008
Rice redshirted the 2008 season as a true freshman.
FOOTHILL HIGH SCHOOL
Was a three-time letterwinner in volleyball at Foothill High School in Pleasanton, Calif. ... earned first team all-league honors as well as Contra Costa Times Volleyball Player of the Year in 2007 ... was also named Tri-Valley Herald Athlete of the Year.... picked up second team all-league accolades as a junior in 2006.... had 402 kills while hitting .438 as a senior in 2007.... graduated in 2007 with a 3.7 grade point average.
