NORTHRIDGE, Calif. – This past weekend, the CSUN men's and women's track & field teams hosted the Northridge Invitational at the Northridge Track Complex. In the three-day meet, the Matadors placed in nearly every event, dominating at their first home competition in several years.
Â
"The meet went really well from every event group," said head coach Avery Anderson. "From top to bottom the student-athletes, including those that competed in the multis earlier in the week, are working really hard and their performances and hard work are paying off."
Â
The Matador men were led by the throwers and jumpers, although there were top finishes in events across the board. CSUN's triple jumpers swept the podium while sprinter Andre McBride won the 100 meter dash and junior Dawaun Lucas won the shot put.
Â
On the women's side, the Matadors won the 100m, 400m, 4x100m, 800m, pole vault, long jump and hammer and swept the podium in the 200m, 100m hurdles, shot put and discus.
Â
"The magic of the Northridge track is still in effect," said Anderson on the teams' success competing on campus. "I forgot how it felt to run at home; it still has that magic feel.
