Six First-Place Finishes Highlight CSUN's Weekend at UCSB

SANTA BARBARA, Calif.---CSUN Track & Field completed a two-day stay at the UC Santa Barbara Invite at Pauley Track on Saturday. The Matadors racked up six total first-place finishes between the men's and women's teams, sweeping discus events and posting four top marks in jumping events.Â
TOP MEN'S PERFORMANCES
Junior Aiydan Bague had a standout weekend, finishing in first place in both the triple jump and high jump competitions. Bague took first in the triple jump with a leap of 14.89m (48-10.25). He also set a PR in the high jump, besting two other athletes with a top mark of 2.01m (6-7). Matthew Browner also competed in the high jump, finishing in second place at 1.96m (6-5).Â
In throws, Kyriaun Davis won his first discus competition this season, pacing the field with a mark of 54.31m (178-2). Isaiah Butler would be the runner up in the event with his throw of 50.69m (166-3) followed by Elijah Ignacio in third place at 50.66m (166-2). Tui Edwin just missed the final round, finishing in 10th place at 42.03m (137-10) while Santiago Cerda was 11th at 40.95m (134-4).Â
Edwin led Matador throwers in the shot put by setting a PR of 16.58m (54-4.75) to take third place. Davis followed in fourth place at 16.12m (52-10.75) and Ignacio was fifth at 16.10m (52-10). Also competing in the competition, Francisco Isiordia took seventh place at 15.58m (51-1.5) and Cerda grabbed eighth place at 15.37m (50-5.25).Â
In the hammer throw, Butler paced CSUN throwers with a fourth-place finish and a mark of 55.17m (181-0). Isiordia finished eighth overall at 50.90m (167-0) while Cerda set a PR of 45.88m (150-6) to place 11th.Â
In sprints, Wyatt Wiggins, Jr. posted a PR of 48.26 in the 400m to place third followed by Terence Williams who was eighth at 50.48. Daniel Harper finished fourth in the 100m with a time of 10.76 and Layne Buck was fifth after setting a PR of 10.83.Â
TOP WOMEN'S PERFORMANCES
Sophomore Ashleigh Porter earned her second high jump victory of the season on Saturday. Porter cleared 1.70m (5-7) to capture first place while Jazmine Severo set a PR of 1.67m (5-5.75) to finish third and Naomi Sachs reached 1.62m (5-3.75) to place seventh.Â
In other jumping events, Camryn Harris was second overall in the triple jump with a mark of 12.28m (40-3.5) while Simone Smith took fourth place at 11.77m (38-7.5). Chandler Smith finished fifth in the long jump with her leap of 5.76m (18-10.75) followed by Anna Negulic in ninth place at 5.44m (17-10.25) and Danielle Irvin in 11th place at 5.13m (16-10).Â
After breaking the school record in the discus last week, Summer Mosley won her first competition of the outdoor season with her toss of 51.35m (168-5). Katherine Shipp-Davis was the runner up in the discus with her throw of 50.46m (165-6) while Amani Britton was fourth at 47.44m (155-7) and Treasure Brown was seventh at 43.27m (141-11).
Britton also had a solid showing in the shot put on Friday as she finished in third place with her throw of 13.78m (45-2.5).Â
In sprints, Serena Grace finished as the runner up in both the 100m and 200m events. Grace was second in the 100m race with her time of 11.68 followed by teammate Makyla Jones who was seventh at 11.94. In the 200m, Grace finished second with a season-best time of 23.89 while Trystin Mitchell took 13th place by running at 25.37.Â
Finally, Brianna Wells competed in the 400m dash, placing fifth overall with a time of 57.57.Â

CSUN Track & Field returns to competition next weekend at UC Irvine's Steve Scott Invitational. The two-day meet will be held at Anteater Stadium from May 1-2.Â
