Matadors Ready For Last Indoor Meet at MPSF Indoor Championships

NORTHRIDGE, Calif.—The CSUN men's and women's track and field teams head to Seattle this weekend for the MPSF Indoor Championships. This will be the second time this season that the Matadors will run on the University of Washington track.
Field events on Friday are set to begin at 12 p.m. with the women's weight throw and the track events are set to get underway at 4:30 p.m with the women's hurdles. The meet concludes Saturday with the field events beginning at 10:30 a.m. The last event, the men's 4x400 meter relay, will begin at 3:20 p.m.
Twenty-two of the West's top track and field programs participate in MPSF Championships competition in indoor track and field. The group is comprised of members of the Big West, Pac-12, and West Coast Conferences, and includes all twelve Pac-12 indoor track and field programs. In 2018, UC Davis and San Francisco added their women's teams for the first time, bringing the total to 15 men's teams and 22 women's teams, the largest the meet has ever been. The fields remain the same in 2019.
Entering this weekend, the Matadors are ranked in their respective events. On the men's side Bashiru Abdullahi is ranked third overall in the 60m hurdles, with Antonio Garcia ranked ninth in the same event. Junior Clint Meyer is ranked seventh in the shot put with senior Erick Loomis ranking third overall in the weight throw.
On the women's side, the Matadors' impressive numbers have led to high rankings entering the contests' this weekend.
Lena Kandissounon is currently ninth overall in the 800m, while Sydney Mosley is ranked ninth overall as well in the 60m hurdles. In the Triple Jump, two Matadors crack the top 10 in rankings with Ty Wallace and Taranique Alexander, who are both eighth and ninth respectively.
The CSUN women's 4x400 relay team has the 10th quickest time in MPSF so far this year. The team of Omotayo Abolaji, De'Andreah Young, Immanuela Aliu, and Kandissounon have posted a mark of 3:49:97 at the Don Kirby Collegiate Invitational back on Feb. 9
