CSUN Track and Field Notches Seven Personal Records at Desert Heat Classic

TUSCON, Ariz- Senior Sydney Mosley and freshman Bashiru Abdullahi etched their names into the record books with their personal best performances at the Desert Heat Classic hosted by the University of Arizona. Five other athletes saw new personal records as CSUN completed the Saturday event.

THE OVERVIEW

Senior Sydney Mosley set a new personal record in the women's 100m Hurdles with her time of 13.39. Her time was a good enough for a tie for the school record in the event. Mosley ties Courtney Robinson and Heather Heron for the fastest mark in Matador history.
Freshman Stella Weinberg snagged a second-place finish for the women's Javelin Throw (164' 10"). Weinberg's P.R. (set at the Stanford Invitational on Mar. 29) is 178-8 ft which is the school record and is good enough for first in the Big West, and fifth in the entire West Region.
Freshman Immaunela Aliu secured two new personal bests. She placed third in the 100m dash with a time of 11.50. With that time she remains second in the Big West. Aliu also placed fourth with a time of 23.44 in the 200m dash, and with that performance, she has moved into pole position in the Big West for the 200m.
On the men's side, Bashiru Abdullahi finished second in the 110m hurdles while setting a personal best by running 13.82. Abdullahi's time is third best in CSUN history. Abdullahi is first in the Big West with his time and with his showing today, he places in the Top 10 in the West Region for the 110m hurdles.
Senior Erick Loomis notched his second first-place finish this season in the Hammer Throw with his distance of 212.4 feet. Loomis is first in the Big West for the Hammer Throw with his distance of 224.6 set at the USC Trojan Invite on March 15. That same mark is good enough for fifth in the West Region.
Mathieu Tshani (14.69m) finished second in the Triple Jump. Tshani is currently fourth in the Big West for his performance at the Stanford Invitational, where he had a mark of 14.94m
Armon Hunter took second place in the Discus Throw with a distance of 54.77m. Hunter's previous best of 55.85m, set at the Triton Invitational was good enough for second in the Big West and 21st in the West Region.
