COACH JEFF CAMPBELL SAID
"I'm pleased with the way we bounced back after last night's match. We played at a high level throughout and even though we had a lead in every set we kept playing hard until the very end. This is as deep a team as we've had in quite a few years so it was nice to get a lot of guys some reps tonight."
SET 1
CSUN, which hit .650, got off the quick start to open the match as the Matadors claimed six of the first seven points to force an early CLU timeout. Kills by Walters and Kyle Hobus extended the lead to seven (10-3) before a 6-3 Matador run pushed the lead to 10 at 16-6. Wetter connected out of a Kingsmen timeout giving CSUN an 11-point cushion at 17-6 and the Matadors would pull away for the 25-12 win.
SET 2
The visitors kept things close in the second set as CSUN didn't lead by more than two points until a Walters kill opened up a 10-7 Matador lead. A 3-1 CSUN run following a CLU timeout extended the lead to 13-8 before the Kingsmen claimed three straight points to cut the deficit to two (13-11). A Hobus kill would spark a 4-0 Matador run that boosted the lead back to 17-11 and despite a late CLU run that trimmed the margin to two, CSUN closed out a 25-19 win on a Kingmen hitting error.
