OUTDOOR: Finished 15th in the 10000m at the Big West Championship in a time of 40:33.17...was third in the 5000m at the adidas/Steve Scott Invitational...ran a career best 4:55.79 in the 1500m to finish fifth at the Mar. 16 Northridge Invitational...was second in the 3000m (10:48.90) at the Northridge Invitational.
INDOOR: Did not compete.
2012 (JUNIOR)
OUTDOOR: Finished third at the Cal State LA Tiny Lister Classic in the 3000m in a career-best 10:42.39...posted a career best in the 10000m 39:08.51 to finish 18th...ran the 1500m three times with a season best 4:59.74 coming at the Tiny Lister Classic.
INDOOR: Did not compete.
CROSS COUNTRY: Opened the season by placing 118th at the Asics/Fullerton meet (25:52.90)...was 140th (20:43.30) at the Asics/UC Irvine Invitational...finished 117th (23:29.0) at the UC Riverside Invitational...recorded season-best 30th at the UNLV Invitational (20:12.00)...placed 51st (23:33.92) at the Northridge Invitational...finished 53rd at the Big West Championship (22:57.40).
2011 (SOPHOMORE)
OUTDOOR: Finished 31st (18:42.75) in the 5,000m at the Big West Championship...season best 5000m time was 18:29.66 at the Asics/Steve Scott Invitational where she placed 19th...also posted season bests of 5:00.75 in the 1,500m at the Oxy Invitational, 10:49.09 in the 3,000m at the Northridge Invitational, and 39:28.06 in the 10000m at the Cal-Nevada Championships.
INDOOR: Redshirted the indoor season at CSUN.
CROSS COUNTRY: Finished 55th at the Big West Cross Country Championship...ran a time of 22:50.7 on the UC Riverside Farm Course...placed a season-best 35th (22:39.3) at the 6k Northridge Invitational.
PRIOR TO CSUN: Spent one season (2009-10) at Vanguard University...competed in both track and cross country for the Lions...ran the 400m, 3000m and 10000m on the track and the 6k for the cross country squad...top time in the 6k was 24:08.
HIGH SCHOOL: A 2009 graduate of Reseda High School...earned the CIF Track & Field award as a senior in 2009...also earned the Track & Field Scholar Athlete award in the LAUSD in 2008...the Regents won league cross country championships in 2007 and 2008...graduated with a 3.5 grade point average.
PERSONAL: Daughter of Felicitas Luna and Gilberto Zainos...major is Spanish...has two sisters, Maria and Leti and one brother, Daniel...favorites include the TV show "Deal Or No Deal", tacos, salads and the music of Sin Bandera...favorite website is Facebook...enjoys watching movies with her family in her spare time...says the name of her autobiography would be "Anything is Possible."
