2013 (JUNIOR)
OUTDOOR: Came in eighth in the shot put at the Big West Championships by posting 49-8 1/2...reset career best in the hammer throw when by placing ninth at the Big West Championships with a toss of 167-2...was the runner-up in the shot put (50-5 1/2) at the Mar. 23 Pasadena Games...finished third in the hammer throw (160-5) at the Pasadena Games...was third in the shot (49-11 1/4) at the Cal State LA Invitational Apr. 6...turned in a third-place performance in the shot to open the outdoor season Mar. 16 at the Northridge Invitational (51-7 3/4).
INDOOR: Did not compete.
2012 (SOPHOMORE)
OUTDOOR: Finished ninth in the hammer and 10th in the shot put at the Big West Championships....his hammer throw at the Big West's (165-11) was a season best...his shot put performance during the conference meet (51-0 1/4) was a season best...recorded a career best shot put of 53-8 1/4 came at the Cal State LA Tiny Lister Classic (Apr. 7)...tossed a season best 166-7 to place 11th in the hammer at the Steve Scott Invitational (Apr. 29).
INDOOR: Season-best shot put during the indoor season was 51-4 1/2...tossed a career high 50-4 1/2 in the weight throw...both came at The Jackson's Invitational in Boise, Idaho (Jan. 29)...entered the MPSF's in both events, but did record a mark...named Academic All-MPSF.
2011 (FRESHMAN)
OUTDOOR: Finished 11th at the Big West Championships in the shot put with a season best throw of 46-8 1/4...finished eighth with a mark of 46-6 1/4 at the Occidental Invitational...had season best of 147-2 in the hammer at the Cal State LA Tiny Lister Invitational...posted a career best 119-0 in the discus at the Northridge Invitational.
INDOOR: Posted season bests as he placed 10th in the weight throw (45-9 3/4) and 17th in the shot put (45-9 3/4) at the MPSF Indoor Championships...was 10th in the shot put at the Boise State Team Challenge (42-5 1/2).
HIGH SCHOOL: A 2010 graduate of La Jolla High School...was named track & field team MVP in both 2008 and 2009...earned All-Western League honors in the shot put in 2008, 2009 and 2010...also earned All-League honors as a lineman for the Vikings football team...graduated with a 3.43 grade point average.
PERSONAL
Son of Gloria Alquicira...major is business management...has one brother, Oscar Alvarez...favorites include the San Diego Padres, Baltimore Ravens' Ray Lewis, the TV show "Two and a Half Men" and the movie "Remember the Titans"...says his greatest moment in sports was winning the the San Diego CIF Masters in 2010.
