2013 (R-JUNIOR)
OUTDOOR: Reset career bests in the 1500m (5:01.13) and the 3000m (10:49.22) in the season opening Northridge Invitational (Mar. 16)...lowered career best in the 5000m at the Apr. 28 adidas/Steve Scott Invitational to 18:13.18...posted a career best in the 10000m to 37:38.25 during the Apr. 5 Cal State LA Invitational...finished 14th in the 10000m at the Big West Championship (39:19.78) on May 10.
INDOOR: Did not compete.
CROSS COUNTRY: Saw action in all six meets...reset career bests in the 5k (18:40.18) at the CSUN Invitational on Oct. 13 and in the 6k (19:54.80) at the UNLV Invitational Sept. 29...was ninth during the CSUN meet and 10th at UNLV...finished 55th at the Big West Championship.
2012 (R-SOPHOMORE)
OUTDOOR: Finished 18th in the 10000m (38:51.07) at the Big West Championship (May 12)...clocked a season-best 38:27.27 at the Cal-Nevada Championships (Apr. 1)...ran the 1,500m (5:05.41) at the season-opening Northridge Invitational (Mar. 17) in only other outdoor appearance.
INDOOR: Ran in one indoor meet, the Boise State Team Challenge (Feb. 11)...ran 5:33.99 in the mile and 11:02.34 in the 3,000m...named Academic All-MPSF.
CROSS COUNTRY: Competed in all six meets...top finish of the season was a 21st-place showing at the UNLV Desert Invitational (Oct. 1) where she clocked a time of 19:55...narrowly missed her second top-25 finish of the season at the Asics/Fullerton Season Opener where she posted a time of 23:41.6 to place 31st...was CSUN's second-best finisher at the Big West Championship (Oct. 29) after finishing 45th in a time of 22:29.8.
2011 (R-FRESHMAN)
OUTDOOR: Finished 19th in the 10000m at the Big West Championship (39:27.20)...season best in the 10000m was Mar. 27 at the Cal-Nevada Championships when she ran 38:00.12...ran a career best in the 800m at the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational (2:32.95)...ran the 1500m at Pomona-Pitzer in a time of 5:02.84...went 11:01.31 in the 3000m during the Mar. 12 Northridge Invitational.
INDOOR: Did not compete.
CROSS COUNTRY: Ran in all five meets...placed a season-best 42nd at the Northridge Invitational (Oct. 16) in a time of 23:07.2...went on to finish 63rd at her first Big West Championship meet (Oct. 30) in a time of 23:48.5.
2010 (REDSHIRT): Sat out the season as a redshirt in the CSUN program.
HIGH SCHOOL: A 2009 graduate of Taft High School...in Woodland Hills, Calif...earned Most Outstanding Runner as a senior...earned Coaches Award in 2007 and 2008 and was named Most Improved as a freshman in 2005...the Torreadors cross country team won West Valley League titles in 2006 and 2008...ran the 3,200m event for the track team...graduated with a 3.0 grade point average.
PERSONAL: Daughter of Esperanza Urbina and Jesus Castillo...major is Kinesiology...has two brothers, Mario and Jesse and one sister, Claudia...favorites include actress Drew Barrymore, the movie “Yes Man” and pasta and pizza...says she chose Northridge because of the EOP and Kinesiology programs...says the sport could be improved by “more positive athletes.”
