Jacob Leyba made four appearances out of the bullpen in 2013 and pitched 4.0 innings. He did not receive a decision, but did record four strikeouts to average one per inning. All four of his innings were against different opponents, as were each of his strikeouts.
2012
Leyba pitched a scoreless ninth inning to pick up the save in his collegiate debut in the series finale win at Sacramento State. He increased his season high to 1.2 innings pitched when he came into the game as a reliever against #22 UCLA. Leyba set new highs with three strikeouts in two innings against Northwestern. He pitched 1.1 innings and did not get a decision against San Francisco (3/2). Leyba matched his season high with 2.0 scoreless innings against Rhode Island (3/14). He also threw a scoreless inning at #13 Cal State Fullerton (3/30), retiring the side in order. Leyba pitched 1.1 scoreless innings and did not allow a hit at #11 UCLA (4/17). He pitched a scoreless inning in relief against UC Davis (5/18) and threw an inning with two strikeouts at CSU Bakersfield (5/22).
ROYAL HIGH SCHOOL
Leyba played two seasons of baseball for the Highlanders at the varsity level and his team went 45-12 during that time. He was both an infielder and pitcher for Coach Maye and graduated in 2011 with a 3.1 GPA.
