2015 (SENIOR)
OUTDOOR: Finished 13th in the shot put at the Big West Championships (49-11 1/4)...reset CSUN best in the shot when he posted a toss of 53-8 1/2 to finish second at the CSUN Challenge May 2...threw the discus four times with a season best being recorded (140-3) at the Northridge Invitational Mar. 20.
INDOOR: Did not compete.
2014 (JUNIOR)
OUTDOOR: Reached the Big West Championships in the shot put but fouled on his three attempts...his season best of 50-8.25 in the shot came at the Fresno State Bulldog Invitational Apr. 26 where he finished second to teammate Zach Rosales....charted his CSUN best in the discus (141-8) at the Cal State LA Twilight Open Apr. 17.
INDOOR: Posted a season best of 48-3 1/4 at the season-opening NYU Shootout which was good for fourth-place, helping the CSUN men to a second place team finish.
PRIOR TO CSUN: A member of the track and field team at Fresno State from 2012-13...placed sixth at the 2012 Western Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships in the discus with a toss of 145-0...was eighth in the shot put at the 2013 Mountain West Outdoor Championships by recording a toss of 51-9 1/4.
HIGH SCHOOL: A 2010 graduate of Bakersfield High School...coach was Terry Chapman...served as team captain as a senior...a member of the 2008 CIF central section Division I champions...earned first team All-League n the shot put...graduated with a 3.2 grade point average.
PERSONAL: Son of Catherine Welch and Joseph Blue...a communications major...has one older brother, Jeff, and two older sisters, Nicole and Sabrina...favorites include the Pittsburgh Steelers, actor Will Smith and nachos.
