2015 (R-SENIOR)
OUTDOOR: Reset career best when he won the pole vault at the May 2 CSUN Challenge...cleared 16-0 3/4...won the pole vault at the Cal State LA Twilight Open (15-3 1/2)...was second at the UCR Spring Classic Mar. 28 (15-9)...placed fifth at the CSUN Invitational Mar. 14 (15-1)...did not clear a height at the Big West Championships...named Academic All-Conference.
INDOOR: Finished 16th in the pole vault during the MPSF Championships with an indoor career best of 15-6 1/4 Feb. 28...went 15-0 at the Armory Track Invitational Jan. 31...named Academic All-MPSF.
2014 (R-JUNIOR):
OUTDOOR: Finished 12th in the pole vault at the Big West Championships in Davis, Calif. (May 17) by clearing 15-1...season best of 15-7 3/4 came at the UCR Sprig Classic where he finished second among 12 vaulters...named Academic All-Conference.
INDOOR: Had CSUN's top pole vault of the indoor season after clearing a season best 15-5 at the MPSF Championships (Mar. 1)...his clearance was good for 17th place and his height ranked seventh on the CSUN all-time Indoor list...named Academic All-MPSF.
2013 (REDSHIRT/SOPHOMORE)
OUTDOOR: Sat out the outdoor season as a redshirt at CSUN.
INDOOR: Had CSUN's top pole vault of the indoor season after clearing 15-4 1/4 at the MPSF Championships (Feb. 23)...converted his first attempt before missing on three attempts at 15-10 to finish 17th...his height ranked eighth on the CSUN all-time Indoor list.
PRIOR TO CSUN: Spent two seasons (2010-12) at Mt. San Antonio College...competed as a pole vaulter for the Mounties and coaches Brian Yokoyama and Giovanni Lanaro...cleared a best height a PR of 15-11...won the state championship...earned the Cunliffe Balance Award given to the student-athlete with the highest GPA on the team...earned his associate of arts degree in 2012 (Liberal Arts in Social Behavior).
HIGH SCHOOL: A 2010 graduate of Servite High School...earned the Coaches Award for the track & field team as a senior...the Friars won a pair of Trinity League championships in 2006-07 and 2009-10...competed for coach Richard Gibbs...played left back for the Friars soccer team, earning MVP of the summer league in 2006...graduated with a 3.2 grade point average.
PERSONAL: Son of Robin and Joe Van Dieren...has one sister, Kayla who attended Cal State Fullerton...favorites include Ukranian pole vaulter Sergie Bubka, cheeseburgers and the music of Queen and Billy Joel...says his top sports moment was "winning the state championship in the pole vault"...enjoys playing video games in his spare time.
