2011 (R-SENIOR): Capped her Matador career with a seventh-place finish in the javelin at the Big West Championships...best mark was 121-7 which was good for two points for the conference champion Matador women...season-best came at the USC Quad Meet where she placed fifth with a top throw of 139-5.
INDOOR: Did not compete.
2010 (R-JUNIOR)
OUTDOOR: Advanced to her first NCAA?West Region Championships in the javelin...finished 31st with a best of 140-9...took fourth at the Big West Championship with a best of 137-8...threw a season-best of 147-5 which was good for third at the Cal-Nevada Championship (Mar. 27-28)...her distance ranks seventh in Matador history
INDOOR: Did not compete.
2009 (R-SOPHOMORE)
OUTDOOR: Finished fifth in the javelin at her first Big West Outdoor Championship...tossed a best of 132-1 to finish three spots behind teammate Stephanie Rallls...posted a season-best of 135-9 at the Cal-Nevada Championship (Mar. 29) which was good for fifth place.
INDOOR: Did not compete.
PRIOR TO CSUN: Spent 2007-08 at Bakersfield College...competed in both track & field and volleyball for the Renegades...was coached by her sister Amber in 2008...earned first team All-League honors in volleyball in 2008...earned her associate of arts degree with a 3.87 grade point average.
HIGH SCHOOL: A 2006 graduate of Bakersfield High School...lettered in track and volleyball...threw the shot and discus in 2003 and the shot in 2004...was also a middle hitter and team captain for the Drillers volleyball team...graduated with a 3.8 grade point average.
PERSONAL: Daughter of Renee and Steve Varner... major is fashion merchandising...has two older sisters, Amber and Rachel and one brother, Jake who wrestled for Iowa State...both sisters are also throwers...favorites include the TV show "Friends" and the movie "A League of Their Own"...chose CSUN because of the area and its close to the beach.
